Preparing for your test in Crawley?

If your practical test is booked at Crawley Test Centre, you can find more information about preparing for the area and what to expect on my Crawley Test Centre page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a provisional driving licence?

Yes. You need a valid UK provisional licence before you can drive on public roads during a lesson.

Do I need to pass my theory test first?

No. You can start practical lessons before passing your theory test and work on both alongside each other.

How long are the lessons?

Most lessons are 2 hours. This gives us time to introduce and discuss a subject, practise it, review what is working and what still needs attention, then put it into practice again. The aim is to move from more guidance at the start towards greater independence as the lesson progresses, without feeling rushed.

Can you pick me up from home, work or school?

Lessons can usually start from wherever is most convenient for you, whether that’s home, work, school or another agreed location. I’ll always try to be flexible, as long as it fits with my schedule and the area I’m teaching in.

Can I start with you if I’ve already had lessons elsewhere?

Yes. We will start from your current level and build on what you can already do rather than automatically starting again.

Is Crawley a difficult driving test centre?

Crawley may feel more demanding because of the mix of busy roads, multi-lane roundabouts and situations where decisions sometimes need to be made slightly quicker. The test itself can also take you outside the busier parts of Crawley and into quieter surrounding roads.

With the right preparation, Crawley is absolutely manageable and can actually be a very good place to build confidence in a wide range of driving situations.

What if you don’t have availability or don’t cover my area?

If I’m unable to offer you lessons because my diary is full or your location falls outside my usual teaching area, I may still be able to help. As an instructor with the 5-star-rated ELITE Driving School, I’m connected to a wider network of instructors and may be able to recommend someone suitable or point you in the right direction.

What is your cancellation policy?

ID Driving School operates a 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel with 48 hours or more notice, there is no charge. Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged up to the lesson value, reflecting reasonable financial loss. Where reasonably possible, I will try to refill a cancelled slot. If that time is successfully refilled, you will not be charged for it. Full details are in the Terms & Conditions.
